![]() onato DiGiacopo isn’t a family name you hear everyday in North America, that’s because “Mr. D” was born in Milan and grew up in the Italian Alps as a boy. He learned first hand about milk from cows and how to churn butter and even making whipped cream became his specialty. Hand whipped cream tastes great, but has a lot of fat and air whipped into it. His big family needed big quantities of everything. So the chore of preparing family meals meant a lot of preparation time. A boy has better things to do than make butter and whipped cream! Mr. D often traveled to Germany by rail to visit friends. It was only an hour or so away and he felt like he was going to another world! During one of these trip he went to a little town called Garmische-Partenkirchen, a lovely place in the German Alps. There, he went behind a popular restaurant and peered through the back door of the kitchen were observed the kitchen staff making butter and whipped cream, but with equipment he had never seen before. He finally got up enough nerve to ask to see the equipment. From that point on, he knew that he could make a business out of helping people in kitchen become efficient and produce foods that tasted great and also looked great.
